Absences – Never Scheduled While Away
A period, no explanation needed
An absence is simply a period when you’re not available – a holiday, a trip, a stay in hospital. You just enter a start and end date, with no reason or note required. If the new period overlaps one you already have, CongPlan tells you instead of creating a duplicate.
Suggestions skip you, planners get a warning
Automatic suggestions for technical assignments leave you out entirely while you’re absent – neither the rule-based nor the AI-assisted suggestion offers you. Manual assignment warns instead of blocking: in the person pickers for meeting parts, technical assignments, and Field Service Meetings, an absent person shows up struck through with an absent (until …) badge – but stays selectable, because a coordinator sometimes knows more than the calendar.
Hand-over requests are stricter
Hand-over requests don’t take chances: anyone absent on the date in question is never asked in the first place. If someone already asked becomes absent while the request is still open, they can no longer take it over.
Personal, visible to planners, in your own calendar
Your absences show up as a hatched period in your personal plan and in the calendar views, and through the calendar subscription each one lands as its own entry in the calendar you already use. Absences are personal data: you always see your own, planners see everyone’s in the congregation, and where a congregation has switched it on, group overseers and group servants can record absences for the active publishers in their own field service group.
